Workers’ comp when you work alone

Just Me is a workers’ compensation policy for a business with no employees and no payroll, often called a ghost policy. The owner is excluded, so it does not pay for your own injuries; it gives you the certificate a general contractor or client asks for. Cimarron Insurance Company writes it in 14 states.

It is a real workers’ compensation policy, but there is no one on it: the business has no employees and the owner is excluded. What it gives you is the certificate of insurance that a general contractor or a client asks for.

What if I hire someone?
